Life serving Youth Friendly Centre in Mutoko District.

In a brief meet and know gathering in ward 12, Mawanga Sarumba Village under Sabhuku Sarumba. Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe, Action Aid, Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum, Disaster and Environmental Management Trust and so on passed by the life serving premise for the youths.

The Youth Friendly Centre has so far eight (8) peer educators, four girls and four boys and has two committee members which are stated as Action Movement Committee and Youth Movement Committee.

The Chitekwe Youth Friendly Centre has brought youths together to be Peer educators. The place has been designated to be a hub for education of various issues bedevelling the youths such as drug and substance abuse.

Councilor Justice Mapisaunga of ward 12 presented on how they are grooming the youths to be the custodian of their life and also exhibit to the District the best behaviors of life through teaching other peers to stop yearningand longing for the unknown.

The Councilor stated that the premise Chitekwe  Youth Friendly Centre is even aiming to create a socially acceptable environment where various issues are discussed such as health practices for the youths, sex education and be able to approach the local nurse for assistance without fearing that the discussed issues will be in the society.

Chitekwe Youth Friendly Centre works with various stakeholders, Mentor Kelvin Shanda of the National Aids Council also stated that they are having the best times with the youths as they are preparing them to be responsible leaders in the society who can disseminate and produce best that should benefit the District of Mutoko.

It was emphasized that various stakeholders, donors as such Plan International, Zimbabwe and so on have facilitated with the refurbishments of the building, fence and drawing of tapped water. The youths to keep them away from drugs, unwanted pregnancy, child marriages games are played in doors and outdoors such as snooker, netball, soccer and so on.

Speaking to youths George Charakupa, Chantel Mupanguri, Beulah Kasheshe and others plea to various well wishers, government, donors to also look at games that they can add with proper equipment to use, affordable transport, (bicycles) to ride as they do peer education, regalia that resembles them as Chitekwe Youth Friendly Centre Peer educators and so on. The major issue is that the Chitekwe Youth Friendly Centre has electronic gadgets stashed in their offices not used because the premise has no electricity and the youths are afraid the donated equipment may not function for good if this is not treated with urgency. Solar power, electricity is what they have pleaded.
